Navigating Unrealistic Standards in AI Staff Recruitment!!!

In my recent AI staff recruitment efforts, I've noticed a trend:

Many employers are setting the bar unrealistically high for AI positions.

Employers are looking for AI candidates who can "fly":

  1. Master every AI framework under the sun

  1. Solve complex problems with a snap of their fingers

  1. Have years of experience in cutting-edge tech that's only just emerging

This overstatement of technical requirements often:

  • Narrows the candidate pool unnecessarily, missing out on talented individuals who might not tick every box but could be perfect for the role with the right support.

  • Creates unrealistic expectations for what one person can achieve, leading to potential disappointment or turnover when reality doesn't match the job description.

My Advice:

Focus on core competencies and the ability to learn and adapt rather than a checklist of every possible skill.

Consider how the role fits into the broader team structure; you're hiring for a team, not just an individual.

Let's discuss how we can better align job requirements with real-world capabilities.
